Poetry: The Sun In Fortune's Path

From young,
he was a prodigy
So talented a boy was he,
so promising, and bright,
so swiftly adored
He garnered easily
from family and friends
A most unwavering loyalty
He was loved,
and listened to
His wishes and requests respected
Of his place among his people
He was never once insecure
But what could be expected
of an angel such as this
Truly, Heaven's son,
so fortunate, so beautiful
And responsible with readiness
Each task quite easily achieved,
none ever deceptively deflected
Til the age of confusion occurred...
For awareness of his praises meant
pressure mixed with pride
And the one who never asked
to be so lucky soon learned
to tire of the ride
Indifference and
rejection became his manner
To seek challenge was his way
Resentment stirred within him as
destruction became his play
But evil was he was not
and no harm was meant by he
T'was just a change of
experience which he sought,
a new range of consciousness his desire
as more often with his days
he wondered
if a new person he could be
But who could say
what became of this prince
as his journey was unique
Like every star in the sky
so are our very lives
For along these paths
of light and mystery we take
individually
Destiny remains a secret
until our travels are complete
And he who seems to you
to shine on outside
may spill tears
within himself his entire lifetime
While those you judge
as latched down
to infinite sadness and to
grief
might actually possess
the key
To heart and happiness,
deep inside, the root
of true joy and gladness
