Fiction: Sorry About Your Job

        It took me a few seconds to process the words and what they actually meant. Before he could repeat himself or go into any detail, I went on.
        “Why would you do that? That’s my job! You think you’re some kind of tough guy? What were you thinking? Are you serious?”
        I couldn’t believe it, but I knew he was serious. I knew he’d really done it.
        “Sorry about your job, but you knew I was going to do this” Bobby commented, flippantly. “I told you I’d get you a new one.”
         He spoke as though his promise of new employment should ease my nerves. He didn’t seem apologetic in the least. In fact, he seemed annoyed at my reaction.
